IP Week-4 Peer Review

After going through the peer review section, I collected more ideas from my peer.  My initial idea is to create a wireless charger to encourage people to put down their phones and focus on their thing, but I focus in the wrong direction. I see the wireless charger become my main objective, so I always limit myself around the wireless charger. Now my peer has pointed out my objective is to encourage people to put down their phone, not about the wireless charger. So now I think I can have a better idea to work on.

Besides, I have discussed with my peer the additional value besides encouraging people to put down their phones. Before, my idea was to give users some encouraging words such as 'You did well, keep going!'. However, I think this is not so appealing enough. Now I have some different ideas to reward users after they put down their phones.

Idea 1:  Phone connect to the desktop, and there is something like Pomodoro timer to calculate the time user have put down their phone. At the same time, there is a character growth system in the application, so the longer the user puts down the phone, the faster the character growth in the application.

At the same time, I have tried a simple Arduino and my peer taught me how to use 3D printer this week. I practiced using Cura software to change some value and print it.

The 3D model I tried to print:

The 3D printer software:

The outcome is not nice, Ron told me that the setting was not correct.

At the same time, I tried soldering this week and used Arduino to control the RGB light. Although the broken LED was used in the process, I finally found a good RGB light and it can run smoothly. I think this is a good start.

Here is the Arduino coding and package link that I used to test the RGB light:

In the next few weeks, I will go there to try and learn new things.

And also, I have completed my content planning, here is my planning:

Finally, I came up with a concept which is 'Constant effort brings success', in Chinese which means 水滴石穿.  This product needs to download an app and use it together. The app can be paired with the product via Bluetooth or a wireless network. This app can record the time the user puts down the phone. The longer the user puts down the phone, the deeper the rocks in the app will be eroded by water. In addition, after pairing, users can control the time they want to put down their phone through the app, compare their achievements with other users who own this product, and control the lighting and sound effects.
